SATOPS MORNING REPORT – April 17, 2001

No significant effects noted on any spacecraft from continued elevated
solar/geomagnetic activity.  All observed effects have

been noted in the past and have not resulted in adverse conditions
on the spacecraft.  Additional information on the current state of
the space environment can be observed on:   http://www.sec.noaa.gov/today.html

POES

No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.

GDP frame syncs were installed today and performing nominally.

NOAA-14 rev 32443 / F at 1400Z on April 16 -L3A was noisy from spacecraft.
Replayed the data during the pass without

better results for transfer to CEMSCS due to ground system configurations
and ground recorder problems.  72% of data

transferred.

NOAA-15 rev 15204 / F at 1540Z – Post-pass transfers delayed for 1 hour
to allow for installation of the GDP frame syncs.

POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

DMSP

No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.

OPS45 rev 04200 at 1245Z – activated the T-Channel Cone Cooler heater
for about 24 hours to improve the sensitivity.

OPS47 rev 31728 at 1025Z – Thule Tracking Station was unable to replay
the data recorded to the ground recorder for the

post-pass data transfer.  Exceeded 4-hour timeline and Category
II data loss declared by user.

DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

GOES

No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.

GOES-8 East/West station keeping maneuver #34 is scheduled for today,
Tuesday, April 17 at 2001Z.  The commanded

thruster firing duration will be 7.0 seconds.

GOES-10 will provide full disk imaging for approximately 2 hours during
the GOES-8 maneuver period.

At 1853Z and 2037Z on April 16 – GOES-8 image frame breaks due to high
bit error rate at CDA.  Reason for BER

unknown.

At 0613Z and 0720Z on April 17 – GOES-10 image frame breaks due to high
bit error rate at CDA.  Reason for BER

unknown.

To review the imaging schedules for the GOES-8 and GOES-10 spacecraft,
refer to:

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/SSD/GOES/eclipse.html to identify images canceled

to satisfy instrument keep-out-zone (KOZ) requirements.

GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
