The EHB met at JSC on March 21, 2001, in Building 1, Room 360, at 1:00 p.m. Representatives from the following organizations participated:

  1. Hardware Integration Schedule XA/B. Counts


Changes to the schedule include:

STS-104 (7A) - CEIT 4/21/01 (possibly 4/28/01)

Sixteen FIAR’s are open for EVA hardware and are shown by flight as follows:

Six FIAR’s are past due and were statused as follows:

JSCEC0848F — Equipment Hook. Inadvertent equipment hook release.



Still have one or two units to check out.

 


 


JSCEC0849F — Safety Tether. Slow retract of tether.

Still in work. XA/D. Roberts and L. Crocker to meet with EHB Chairman to discuss.

JSCEC0841 — PFR Gimbal Assembly. Roll joint buttons binding.

No update. The EHB Chairman requested EC5/D. Glebe contact him with a new ECD.

JSCEC0850F — Safety Tether. Discoloration of safety tether.

Will do load test; move date to next week.

JSCEC0842 — MMWS Gimbal Assy. Fraying of end effector cord.

In work. EC5/B. Greene to close.

One new FIAR was reported:

JSCEC0863 — Modular Gimbal Assy. During STS-98 EVA’s it was noticed that the end effector was sticking and not closing.

ECD 4/30/01. Interim closure for STS-100.

The following FIAR’s for STS-100 were statused:

JSCEC0860 — Body Restraint Tether (BRT). BRT will not stay stabilized after tensioning.

Interim signed for STS-100.

The following FIAR for STS-105 (7A.1) was statused:

BFCE026A005 — Disk/Loop Pin Puller Tool Caddy. Broken tether cord.

EC5/R. Schwarz to meet with USA and bring discussion forward to EHB.

The oldest FIAR, against the Adaptive Payload Carrier, is 561 days old.

  1. On-Orbit Limited Life Status — NA/C. Nguyen
  2. The Bi-Weekly On-Orbit Limited Life Status will be presented to the EHB on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. The EHB Chairman requested a status on the progress of the database going on-line from NA/C. Nguyen.


  3. Certification Status NS22/G. Wright

All hardware certification is closed for STS-100.

There are 19 open hardware certification items open for STS-104. It was reported that the EVA Winch & Mount Assy would be coming off the list and that the QD Contingency Tool is close to cert. Certification for SAFER items is in work.

There is no hardware certification activity for STS-105.

 


 


 


 


  1. EMU RDR and Certification Status NC512/J. Fuentes

There are 28 open EMU RDR’s. The total open by flight is as follows:


STS-100 (6A) 6


STS-104 (7A) 8


STS-105 (7A.1) 4

STS-100 RDR’s: The Phase VI Glove Heater element, Phase VI Glove Restraint abrasion, low circuit voltage on the Advanced Battery, relief valve lock nut adhesive loose on the IC Battery, and the Advanced Battery Relief Valve reseat RDR’s are planned to close by 3/29/01. A new NFC is in the signature process for the RDR on loss of power indication on the Middeck Battery Charger.

STS-104 RDR’s: The METOX RDR (regenerator oven solenoid did not actuate canister state indicator) will be statused at the next EMU Panel and EHB.

There are no open certification items to report for STS-100.

The are 27 open certification items for STS-104 (7A). Most will come off with ESEL revisions. The SSER cert is in work. Joint A/L stowage items cert package is in the review cycle.

There are 16 open certification items for STS-105 (7a.1), with the majority requiring ISS certification.

  1. Funds Transfer Status XA/J. Hall

The following funds were transferred:



H-0964 — Deliver Microconicals to Boeing-KSC – $10K

Ms. Hall reported that funding for ISS Thermal enhancements is in work.

  1. IFA Status
  2. The STS-102 (5A.1) IFA actions were presented. The Chairman requested the actions be reviewed and if no rewording issues arise, the STS-102 IFA’s will be baselined at the next EHB. The 4/11/01 EHB will dispense with the usual agenda items and be devoted entirely to IFA and EHB actions.

  3. EMU Rotation Plan XA/L. Kearney


Changes to the EMU Rotation Plan will be presented to the EHB the last Wednesday of each month

  1. USA SAFER Flight Logistics Plan — XA/A. Huynh

Changes to the USA Safer Flight Logistics Plan will be presented to the EHB the last Wednesday of each month.



10. EHB Action Status — XA/G. Lutz



The following EHB actions were statused:



Action 1/31/01-1 — XA/L. Kearney. Work issues of shortage of Biomed hardware and bring a CR forward to the EHB.



New actionee: XA/A. Huynh

Action 12/6/00-1 — HSWL/B. Pasternak. Develop ROM and schedule to make the SSER and EMU ORU component.

Working feasibility. Will follow-up on ROM.

Action 11/1/00-4 — EC5/Bill Spenny. Evaluate potential suit damage. (Ref: STS-97 D-ring issue.)

CLOSED. Testing showed no damage.

Action 12/13/00-2 — EC5/Bill Spenny. Work with MOD to understand IRCO2 sensor.


Per DX3/M. Hembree, MOD held exhaustive review. EC5/W. Spenny to present results to April EVA CCB.


Action 2/7/01-1 — EC5/Bill Spenny. Change FEMU-R-001 to disallow reuse of CCC’s and to utilize regenerated Metox canisters. (Ref: CM Richards high CO2 run.)

Several FEMU-R-001 changes are in work. Fixes to be brought to EMU Panel.


  1. H7109 — Phase VI Glove TMG RTV Vacuum Thermal Bake-out for STS-109 (HST-03B) — HSWL/Tom Chase
  2. This CCBD requests implementation of GSFC HST requirements for thermal vacuum bake-out for eight pairs of EMU Phase VI glove TMG’s for use on HST-03B. These eight pairs of TMG’s will be removed from production at the point just before installation of the 12-volt electrical heater harness, shipped to JSC to perform the bake-out, then returned to ILC-Dover for completion of the manufacturing process. The eight pairs of Phase VI glove TMG’s will be delivered to USA consisting of four flight TMG’s and four backup TMG’s. Each TMG will be identified as having been baked-out so that no RTV is added during processing or fabrication subsequent to the bake-out.

    Decision: Approve.


  3. H-0967 — STS-100 (6A) Open Tool-to-Tool Fitchecks — HSMS/A. Hall

This CCBD requests EHB concurrence on accepting the risk of not performing all tool-to-tool fitchecks for STS-100. Open payload bay fitchecks and TSA fitchecks remain on the MMWS RH Swingarm S/N 1004 and 1005. A total of 34 fitchecks will remain open for STS-100.

Decision: Approve.
