  1. Cert Status — NC52/M. Doughney

There are two open certification items for STS-98, either of which may not fly. The Hydrazine Detection Pad, which is having a problem with the color chart, will be tested at WSTF this week. It has yet to be determined by the programs whether the Trace Gas Analyzer will be flown. There are four open certification items for STS-102. Certification for the EVA Scissors is pending release of drawings, which per EC5, are 80% complete. There are 11 open certification items for STS-100.

  1. Mission Hardware Status — LOC/K. Thomas
  2. All STS-98 hardware has been shipped for flight. All STS-102 hardware is working for an on-dock date of 1/12/01. Two DR’s have been written on the Body Restraint Tethers (BRT’s) and one DR has been written on the MMWS. All STS-100 hardware has been shipped for MPLM Bench Review. All STS-104 hardware for the airlock ETSD has been shipped except for the large cutter panel. Three items that will be stored inside the airlock are still being processed (3 handrails, the handrail carrier and 3 EHIP bulbs). These items will be shipped approximately 2/16/01 and are needed by 3/5/01. A sweep will be done to see if the correct handrails are here. If they need to be cut down it will take approximately 1 week. EC5/R. Schwarz will investigate and have story back for the next Tool Panel on whether more handrails need to be built.

  3. Actions Review — XA/G. LeStourgeon

The following actions were statused:

Action 11/20/00-2 — XA/B. Counts: Update 5A ESEL to replace SAFER switch guard with previous configuration per CR H-0753R2.

CLOSED.

Action 10/5/00-1 — XA/J. Dutton: Process SSCN to obtain funding from ISS for U.S. Lab slidewire work being accomplished on H-0890R1 and H-0877.

Can close when 5A returns.

Action 11/20/00-1 — DX3/K. Knotts: Assure proper use of socket in crew training and procedures to prevent puling on Wobble Socket while attached to PGT.

CLOSED. Crew trained for ops constraint.

Action 11/13/00-1 — EC5/R. Schwarz: Provide ROM and schedule for flight hardware.

CLOSED. Not enough definition on CR. To be rewritten.

Action 11/13/00-3 — EC5/R. Schwarz: Determine if hardware exists and cost to provide tether point (Ref: H-0909 — Modify Inspection Mirror).

Lockheed should have ROM by end of week.

Action 12/4/00-1 — EC5/R. Schwarz: Investigate 5A PFR configuration issue and implement corrective action.

CLOSED.

Action 11/13/00-4 — EC5/R. Schwarz: Provide ROM and schedule to mark one end of fuse tether (Ref: H-0910 — Identification Marking for Adjustable Fuse Tethers).

CLOSED. CR released.

Note: Due to transfer of SSM to Space Station, all EC5/C. Chang actions will be reassigned

  1. Pending CR Review — XA/D. Roberts
  2. This item was deferred.

  3. Gage Status — EC5/K. Hostetler

The monthly Gage Status was presented. This status shows gages that will expire, gages that are in for calibration, gages that are not in for calibration and new gages and gages in calibration.

  1. H-0235R7 — Update STS-98 (5A) Tools ESEL — XA/B. Counts

This Revision 7 to the STS-98 Tools ESEL updates serial numbers changed real-time during flight processing, adds a third socket caddy and the QD Lever, and includes the latest configuration REBA Chargers

Decision: Route for technical concurrence.

  1. H-0668R5 — Update STS-102 (5A.1) Tools ESEL — XA/A. Mears
  2. This Revision 5 to the STS-102 ESEL contains required additions, deletions, and changes to various tech orders and P/N and S/N updates. It adds the 2" x 7/16" Rigid Socket Extension, the —361 and —381 RET’s, 4 Crew Hook Locks (small crew hook on waist tether), and the Gold Salt Kit/Coupons. A position on the crew hook locks is needed from DX by next week. CCBD approval is requested in time for Bench Review to get hardware on CCCD.

    Decision: Route for technical concurrence.

  3. H-0928 — Certify Airlock Stowage Bag for ISS Use — XA/L. Crocker

This CCBD requests certifying the Airlock Stowage Bag (P/N SKD13101496-306) for ISS (internal) on-orbit stowage and for ISS EVA’s. The bag is needed for temporary stowage/staging of EMU items in the ISS airlock for Station Ops. There is insufficient time to build a new bag for this use. This request highlights the fact that there are several hardware items on approved ESEL’s that are intended to be left on orbit on ISS, but that do not have proper certification.

The following actions were assigned:

Action 1/8/01-2: Review ESEL’s through 7A.1 to identify what hardware needs ISS certification and provide to XA.

Actionee: NC52/G. Wright

Due Date: 1/22/01

Action 1/8/01-3: Review and certify existing bag for ISS by 3/5/01.

Actionee: EC5/R. Schwarz

Due Date: 3/5/01

Action 1/8/01-4: Investigate whether there is a problem with this bag being used in the airlock.

Actionee: XA/L. Crocker

Due Date: 1/22/01

MOD is currently using this bag to teach pep and post classes.

Decision: Route for technical concurrence.

  1. EDF Sheath for STS-100 — XA/R. Fair
  2. This CCBD requests building a protective sheath for the STS-100 Critical Spare Expandable Diameter Fastener (EDF) to prevent contamination of other EVA hardware. The hardware will be flown in the middeck and taken EVA in an ISS GPA Caddy.

    Decision: Route for technical concurrence.

  3. H-0737R1 — Revise STS-98 Tool-to-Tool Fitcheck Matrix — HSMS/M. Elder
  4. This CCBD requests revising the STS-98 Tool-to-Tool Fitcheck Matrix to incorporate the STS-98 ESEL Rev 7.

    Decision: Route for technical concurrence.

  5. H-0927 — STS-98 Tool-to-Tool Fitcheck Open Items — HSMS/M. Elder

This CCBD requests accepting the risk of not performing fitchecks on STS-98 mission specific open fitchecks, open fitchecks between STS-98 tools to on-orbit tools, and open fitchecks between STS-98 tools that are staying on-orbit to on-orbit tools.

Decision: Present to 1/10/01 EHB.

  1. HITS Status Review — XA/O. Mechtchanskaia

A "stoplight" metrics report by flight for hardware and services identified on the Hardware Items Tracking System (HITS) was presented. This report shows hardware and/or service/support delivered, on schedule, and not meeting planned delivery date or program need date. This review will become a standard Tools Panel agenda item until further notice.
