SATOPS MORNING REPORT October 26, 2000

POES

No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.

NOAA-16 operations nominal.

The steady state operating temp of the NOAA-15 AVHRR scan motor has
dropped approximately 2-3 degrees C (due to the +/-X IMP TCE deactivations).
A solar array adjustment is being considered for Monday to further shade
the IMP, followed by a few passes where the MIRP and AVHRR will be synch’ed
while within sight of a ground station (~10 minute durations) to collect
synch delta (timing) data.  During the week, the AVHRR will be cycled
between high and low power modes.

NOAA-15 rev 12741 / W at 1242z on October 25:  G2B lost (reason
unknown). Data not recoverable on subsequent revs due to recorder management.

NOAA-14 rev 30008 / F at 0218z on October 26:  G1B short due to
Antenna “B” problems at AOS.  16.1% of the data was captured with
Antenna”A”.   Data not recoverable on subsequent revs due to
recorder management.

POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

DMSP

No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.

DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

GOES

No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.

At 1216z, 1222z and 1228z on Wednesday, October 25, GOES-8 frame breaks
were observed and attributed to high BER at CDA (unknown reason).

GOES-8 East/West maneuver # 32 was executed nominally at 16:58z on Wednesday,
October 26.

At 1030z on Wednesday, October 25, a GOES-10 frame break was observed
and attributed to local CRC error.

GOES-10 East/West maneuver # 14 is scheduled for Friday, October 27,
at 0928z.  The commanded thruster firing duration will be 8.3 seconds.

GOES-9 and GOES-11 remain in the Z-Axis Precession (ZAP) storage mode
at ~105 deg W.

GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
