SATOPS MORNING REPORT – August 25, 2000

POES

No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.

NOAA-14 rev 29129W – G1B noisy from spacecraft with 90.9% of the data
received.  Recorder management prevented replay from the spacecraft
on subsequent revs.

NOAA-15 revs 11860 and 11862 – Executed a series of manual commands
to record STIP and execute a fast playback (in an attempt to reduce potential
STIP/SAIP playback time requirements).  Tests were not conclusive;
further testing will continue next week.

POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

DMSP

No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.

OPS-46 deactivation activities continue.  The solar array lead
angle adjustment testing completed yesterday (to evaluate effects on the
Battery 2 Current Sensor (BCS)); no charge dropouts were observed.

OPS-43 (1248Z on August 25) was successfully configured to basic YGC
due to low sun angle.

DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

GOES

No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.

At 1622Z on Thursday, August 24, a GOES-8 frame break was observed and
attributed to loss of signal synchronization.

At 1501Z on Thursday, August 24, a GOES-10 frame break was observed
and attributed to address phasing error.

At 1651Z, 1811Z, 1820Z and 1933Z on Thursday, August 24, GOES-10 frame
breaks were observed and attributed to high BER (unknown cause).

At 2233Z on Thursday, August 24, a GOES-8 frame break was observed and
attributed to loss of signal synchronization.

At 0249Z on Friday, August 25, a GOES-10 frame break was observed and
attributed to an SPS CMD I/O error.

At 0507Z on Friday, August 25, a GOES-10 frame break was observed and
attributed to RFI at CDA (unknown cause).

At 2049Z on Thursday, August 24, GOES-8 heaters for the ox/fuel tanks
and west prop lines were turned on as part of normal pre-eclipse season
commanding.

Normal pre-eclipse battery reconditioning activities continue on GOES-8,
-9 and -10.

GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
