NOAA/GOES SATOPS Morning Report 10 August 2000
SATOPS MORNING REPORT – August 10, 2000
GOES
No change in the status of the GOES spacecraft.
GOES-8 frame breaks occurred on Thursday at 0750Z and 0802Z due to local
thunder storms at Wallops CDA.
A GOES-10 frame break occurred on Wednesday at 1045Z due to local BER.
A GOES-10 frame break occurred on Thursday at 0638Z due to loss of signal
synch at the CDA. Additional GOES-10 frame breaks occurred on Thursday
at 0722Z and 0753Z due to local thunder storms at Wallops CDA.
POES
No change in the status of the POES spacecraft.
On Wednesday at ~1115Z a change in the N15 HIRS filter wheel performance
was observed. The filter wheel operating current dropped ~25mA with
a corresponding decrease in temperature and retention of filter wheel synchronization.
Engineers continue to monitor the instrument performance.
NOAA-10 was commanded to high speed dwell on rev 72240W at 1057Z on
Wednesday to evaluate capability of PACS to process high-speed dwell telemetry
in Real-time. The test was successful, no negative operational impacts
were observed and the dwell data is now being analyzed.
HRPT problems were observed on NOAA-15 observed 1138Z and 1317Z.
BCN TIP data was received without incident. The HRPT problems are
suspected to reside within the ground system.
DMSP
No change in the status of the DMSP spacecraft.
DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
End-of-life testing continues on OPS 46. Engineers are monitoring
OLS instrument performance during the cool down period (subsequent to the
OLS Cone Cooler Heater turn off yesterday).
