Presenting the Space for Humanity 2021 Annual Report
At Space for Humanity (S4H), we believe our greatest challenges are planetary in scale, and must be addressed from that perspective. We are using space as a tool for transformation.
2021 was a historic year in human spaceflight.
From 1961 to 2020, there were 8 people total who went to space commercially.
In the year of 2021, more than 20 people went to space commercially thanks to the ground breaking work of SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin, and others. Notably, this includes the first openly LGBTQ+ astronaut, first black female to pilot a spacecraft, and the youngest and oldest person ever to go to space.
This is a monumental time in human spaceflight, and this is why S4H’s mission is so crucial. While many non-profits focus on addressing the symptoms of our greatest challenges (which is important), S4H is committed to going to the root: Perspective.
By fundamentally addressing our collective perspective, and utilizing the future-forming moment we are currently in, we believe we can create long-term solutions to our most intractable challenges.
From partnering with Virgin Galactic and Omaze to select the first person from the Caribbean to go to space, receiving applications from thousands globally who dream of having the spaceflight experience, to having millions engage with our content and message online, to bringing the space community together for launch parties, and hosting an artist in residency program; S4H’s mission of expanding access to space for all of humanity grew in lockstep with the commercial space advancements that made history this past year.
As we continue to grow and expand our reach into 2022, we are pleased to share our 2021 Annual Report, reflecting our victories and achievements over the past year, none of which would be possible without your support. Space for Humanity is entirely dependent on the generosity of donors and supporters like you in order to carry out our work. We hope that with your help, we will continue to expand our impact, selecting our first crew and crews thereafter, promoting the importance of a planetary perspective, supporting people from all over the world to expand their minds and change the way they interact with people and the planet.
To Space, For Earth.
Ad Astra,
The Space for Humanity Team
