In case you missed it: A newly published article in Quanta Magazine (https://www.quantamagazine.org/new-squid-genome-shines-light-on-symbiotic-evolution-20190219/) highlights the work of NASA Space Biology principal investigator Jamie Foster, University of Florida, and a team of international researchers. The article, “New Squid Genome Shines Light on Symbiotic Evolution,” focuses on the authors’ research on the symbiotic relationship between bobtail squid and bacteria that help protect the squid from predators. This work also marks the completion of the first genome for a squid.
