In case you missed it: On the September 14th edition of NPR’s Science Friday, researcher Simon Gilroy, Professor of Botany at University of Wisconsin-Madison, joined host Ira Flatow to discuss Gilroy’s research about calcium-based plant defense signaling and about growing plants in space. The results of the study were published in Science on September 14. Science also produced a video about the work, available at http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2018/09/plants-communicate-distress-using-their-own-kind-nervous-system.
