Technology, Request For Information (RFI)

Release Date: December 17, 2014

Response Date: February 7, 2015 (5:00pm Eastern)

NASA is requesting information on industry-developed cryogenic storage and transfer technology that could support future commercial and NASA space missions while also having the potential to support terrestrial applications.

The RFI entitled “Potential Industry/NASA Partnership in Cryogenic Storage and Transfer Technology Development of Assessment”, is available through the NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES) at:

Instructions for submitting a response are included in the RFI.

Technologies of interest include, but are not limited to, passive thermal control technologies such as high performance insulation and low thermal conductivity structural materials.  NASA is also interested in obtaining information on active thermal control technologies such as cryocoolers, broad area cooled shields, and pumps.  The final area of interest involves the transportation of cryogenic liquids from one vessel to another in a zero-gravity space environment.  These technologies include capillary-driven liquid transport components.

This solicitation is an Request for Information, and is not a request for proposal, quotation, or invitation to bid.
