NASA ROSES-14 Amendment 23: Reduction in scope of A.19 OCO-2 Science Team

ROSES-14 Amendment 23 changes the name and reduces the scope of A.19, Science Team for the OCO Missions.

This call is designed to select the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2) Science Team for the next three years. Because OCO-2 is a directed mission, the Science Team is selected through the peer review process. This differs from the original Science Team for OCO that included the Co-Investigators on the original OCO Earth System Science Pathfinder proposal. This science team will stand down during the time when OCO-2 is going through the early science analysis, after the on-orbit commissioning phase of the mission and the prime mission phase of operation. Hence, most of the desired contributions to OCO-2 will be for expertise and knowledge for appropriate activities related to this phase of the mission.

When it was released in February 2014, A.19 was entitled “Science Team for the OCO Missions” and the text included many references to the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-3 (OCO-3) Mission. In the FY 2015 budget submit, OCO-3 was removed from NASA’s budget, and list of activities, so this amendment removes OCO-3 from the scope of A.19 and changes the name to “Science Team for the OCO-2 Mission”.

Notices of Intent are not requested. The due date for full proposals remains unchanged at September 25, 2014.

On or about May 29, 2014, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement “Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2014” (NNH14ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and will appear on the RSS feed at: http://science.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/grant-solicitations/roses-2014/
