From: Agency-IT-Outreach
Date: Tuesday, April 17, 2012
NASA Office of the Chief Information Officer
To: All NASA civil servants and contractors
Subject: Spacebook Being Decommissioned Action may be required
Date: June 1, 2012
What is Happening?
On June 1 Spacebook, NASA’s social network site, will be decommissioned. All data will be archived and all user accounts will be closed.
Spacebook was implemented in 2009 as a social network for civil servants and contractors to collaborate and share information. Unfortunately participation has not been as high as anticipated. On average, only 14 users log on per weekday and zero on the weekends. There are alternate internal social media tools, such as Yammer (https://www.yammer.com/nasa.gov).
NASA civil servants and contractors may create accounts with their nasa.gov e-mail addresses.
Action Required: Data uploaded to Spacebook will be archived along with the site on June 1. Download any documents or other media saved on Spacebook before that date.
Services Affected: Spacebook: https://spacebook.nasa.gov/ Users will be prompted to log in with a NASA Launchpad username and password.
Who is Affected? All Spacebook users
