NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory was launched successfully by the United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket on Feb. 11 at 10:23:00 a.m. EST.
Spacecraft: Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-P)
Launch Vehicle: Delta IV
Launch Pad: Complex 37, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
Launch Date: March 1, 2010
Launch Window: 6:19 – 7:19 p.m. EST
At the Astrotech payload processing facility, the GOES-P satellite is being prepared for rollout Saturday, weather permitting. It will be transported to Launch Complex 37 and hoisted atop the Delta IV rocket on Sunday. An interface verification test to check the connections between GOES-P and the Delta IV is scheduled to be conducted next week on Feb. 17.
GOES-P, to be launched for NASA and NOAA, is a United Launch Alliance commercial launch for Boeing Launch Services under a Federal Aviation Administration license.
