Message from the Center Director
Invitation to Participate in Ames’ 70th Anniversary Photograph

On December 20, 2009, Ames will officially turn 70 years old. As you know, we have sponsored a series of seminars and special events throughout the year to celebrate this important milestone in our center’s history. It’s been a great ride and, like you, I am very proud of what we have accomplished and the legacy we are leaving for future generations.

As one element of our 70th anniversary celebrations, we have arranged for a very special event on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. On that occasion, we are asking everyone at the center who wishes to participate to take a short time out of her or his day to be a part of a commemorative photograph that will become a valued item in our historic archive. Everyone is invited to come to the tarmac of Building 158 (Flight Operations) on the airfield side of historic Hangar One where we will shoot an aerial view of center personnel formed in the shape of a ’70’.

We ask that people be at the Building 158 site by approximately 9:30 a.m. to be put into the correct placement for the 10 a.m. sharp helicopter fly by and shoot. This should only take a few minutes at which time everyone can return to work.

Please come and be a part of Ames history. It promises to be a very special, fun occasion when we can all be together to share our sense of pride, accomplishment and history. I hope that you will all choose to join us.
