NASA OIG Launches Website for Mandatory Contractor Reporting
Under new rules promulgated under authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation, NASA contractors must report to the Inspector General whenever they have credible evidence to believe there has been a violation of certain Federal criminal laws or civil fraud under a government contract, including their subcontracts. Knowing failure to timely report can be grounds for suspension and debarment from Federal contracting. The new regulation is effective December 12, 2008.
Required reports can be submitted to the OIG through a secure website. The website can be found by clicking on the Contractor FAR Reporting Requirements link at: http://oig.nasa.gov/
Details concerning the new reporting requirement are published in the Federal Register, November 12, 2008, pages 67064 through 67093.
