NASA MODIS Image of the Day: November 28, 2008 – The Bahamas

Part of the Bahamas are featured in this MODIS Aqua image that was captured on November 21, 2008.

Visible here is the island Grand Bahama on the left and Great Abaco on the right.

The largest island, Andros is a bit further south and cut out of this small image. It is visible on the larger image. The Bahamas, an independent country located in the Atlantic Ocean off the southeastern coast of the United States, just north of Cuba. This archipelago consists of some seven hundred islands and two thousand cays. All of the islands are very low and flat. The high point in the chain is only 210 feet in elevation!
