NASA MODIS Image of the Day: March 28, 2008 - Dust over the Eastern Mediterranean
In late March 2008, Saharan dust blew northward over the Mediterranean Sea towards Turkey, then turned right and blew over part of the Black Sea.
The MODIS on NASA’s Terra satellite took this picture of the blowing dust on March 24, 2008.
In this image, the dust appears as a translucent tan swath sweeping up from the Sahara over the Mediterranean Sea. The dust mingles with clouds over Turkey, but the plume remains intact over the Black Sea.
