A clear day on May 2, 2007 gave the MODIS on the Terra satellite a clear view of the island of Ireland. With all its green vegetation is it’s easy to see why it is often called the Emerald Isle! Politically, the Island, which is just east of Great Britain, is divided into Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Ireland is lies in the Atlantic Ocean between the Celtic (south) and Irish (east) Seas. The city of Dublin is visible on Ireland’s eastern coast as a large gray patch.
