The nor’easter that hit the US in mid-April causing record amounts of rainfall, continued northward into Canada on April 16th, 2007. Near the US-Canada border, the heavy rain turned to heavy snow; the snow, in combination with still-heavy winds, caused traffic problems and brought down power lines. Upstate New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, as well as parts of the Canadian Provinces of Ontario and Quebec were affected by snow with Eastern Ontario reporting eight inches, according to the Toronto Star.

Unseasonably cold temperatures kept snow on the ground, as you can see from this image captured by the MODIS on the Terra satellite four days after the storm, on April 20th, 2007. This image shows how the storm appeared as it approached Canada.
