Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and the United States Air Force (USAF) 45th Space Wing (45 SW) announced the intent to debundle the Joint-Base Operations Support Contract (J-BOSC) following its completion in September 2008. In November 2006, a combined USAF and NASA industry day was conducted which identified as many as 18 potential future contracts as a result of the debundling decision. Comments were requested from industry regarding how the future solicitations were packaged. As a result of industry comment and internal review, NASA is now pursuing an acquisition strategy that includes a total of 6 potential NASA contracts as opposed to the 11 contracts initially identified at Industry Day. Anticipated USAF contracts remain unchanged at this time.

The anticipated NASA contracts are as follows:

1. Institutional Services Contract: which includes Infrastructure Operations and Maintenance, Propellants and Life Support, Logistics, Labs, and Airfield Services
2. Information Management and Communications Support
3. Medical/Environmental Support Contract (including hazardous waste services)
4. Mail
5. Custodial
6. Technical Training

The anticipated USAF contracts are as follows:

1. Infrastructure Operations & Maintenance
2. Security
3. Fire & Emergency Services
4. Grounds Maintenance and Pest Control
5. Minor Construction
6. Vehicle Operations & Maintenance
7. Refuse Disposal

Note: NASA has determined that an Agency-wide contract strategy will be pursued for protective services. Any information regarding that future acquisition will be outside of the KSC Institutional Base Support Restructure (IBSR) strategy. All additional information will continue to be provided at http://ibsr.ksc.nasa.gov

No solicitation or additional information exists at this time; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. Prospective offerors are responsible for monitoring the Internet site for the release of additional information. The IBSR website will be updated to incorporate links to each of the individual procurements.
