The Weight-Watcher Program for Subdwarfs
We propose to use HST/FGS1r to measure five subdwarf spectroscopic binaries to determine masses for the components. Their metallicities, [Fe/H], range from -0.5 to -2.5, and their projected minimum separations range from 9 to 24 mas. These binaries are resolvable with HST/FGS1r but not any ground-based technique. Currently, there are only two subdwarf systems having any mass measurements. The proposed work will boost the total number of subdwarf systems with masses from two to seven, and allow us to construct the first mass-luminosity relation for low-metallicity stars.
FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY:
Significant Spacecraft Anomalies: (The following are preliminary reports of potential non-nominal performance that will be investigated.)
HSTARS:
10669 – NICMOS 602 & 599
At AOS 033/19:00:47 observed that at 033/18:36:20 Received Status Buffer Error NICMOS 602 DUMP TIMEOUT ERROR (P=1, T=12270). At 033/18:36:21 received Status Buffer Error NICMOS 599 DUMP IMAGES NOT DEALLOCATED (P=3, T=12278). SI/SE contacted FOT reference these errors.
10670 – GSAcq (2,1,2) failed to RGA Hold At 034/02:45:47 GSAcq (2,1,2)scheduled from 034/02:42:20-02:49:47 had failed to RGA Hold (Gyro Control). Mnemonics QF2STOPF & QSTOP were flagging.
OBAD #1: V1 -452.30, V2 -239.05, V3 139.60, RSS 530.29
OBAD #2: V1 7.28, V2 0.08, V3 2.45, RSS 7.68
OBAD MAP: V1 -1.41, V2 15.25, V3 -0.52, RSS 15.32
10671 – GSAcq(2,1,2) failed to RGA Hold (Gyro Control) The GSAcq(2,1,2) scheduled at 035/04:49:47 – 04:57:52 failed to RGA Hold due to (QF2STOPF) stop flag indication on FGS2. Pre-acquisition OBADs showed (RSS) attitude correction values of 792.19 and 11.57 arcseconds. Post-acquisition OBAD/MAP had 3-axis (RSS) value of 554.46 arcseconds.
10672 – OBAD Failed
OBAD at 035/13:47:12 failed at 13:49:59. 486 message 1903 “OBAD Failed Quaternion” was received.
10673 – Structure Current (primary) limit violation
Structure Current(CSTRUCCP) flagged yellow high, 5.6 amps, for 1 sample. Ops Note 1550-2(2006/355) increased structure current limits by 2 counts due to section 4 solar array short. Current yellow high, 5.4 amps. Flag occurred at the end of orbit day.

SIGNIFICANT EVENTS:
The STcI and SISEs have completed their analysis of the NICMOS science and engineering data and have concluded that all three filter wheels are performing nominally. The engineering analog diagnostic data along with all of the SD images were analyzed and provided more than sufficient evidence that the filter wheels were performing nominally. 3 internal darks were loss, with no real consequence. At ~34/02:43 the NICMOS FW enable flag was set to enable.
