An unpiloted Russian Progress cargo ship left the International Space Station for a two-day test on an upgraded automated rendezvous system.
After undocking from the aft port of the Zvezda Service Module April 23, the craft will travel more than 300 miles from the orbital complex. On its return to the station, the Progress will test its Kurs rendezvous hardware, which will be incorporated into Progress cargo vehicles currently under development. The Progress is scheduled to redock to Zvezda on April 25.
