Happy Valentine’s Day from the Mars
Global Surveyor (MGS) Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) team!

This somewhat heart-shaped, eroded and partially-filled
crater is located near the southeast wall of Columbus
Crater in the Mare Sirenum region of Mars. North is
toward the bottom/lower left.


Location near: 29.9°S, 165.2°W

built the MOC using spare hardware from the Mars Observer mission.
MSSS operates the camera from its facilities in San Diego, California.
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Mars Surveyor Operations Project
operates the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft with its industrial
partner, Lockheed Martin Astronautics, from facilities in Pasadena,
California and Denver, Colorado.
