Full data on this image has now been released via the THEMIS Data Releases website. The large crater in the center of this image is older than all the smaller craters in the rest of the VIS image. The crater no longer has any visible rim or ejecta, and is simply a circular smooth floored basin. The interior has been further modified by both impact and the process that formed the darker markings. This image is from the region near Naktong Vallis. [Source: ASU THEMIS Science Team] Note: this THEMIS visual image has not been radiometrically nor geometrically calibrated for this preliminary release. An empirical correction has been performed to remove instrumental effects. A linear shift has been applied in the cross-track and down-track direction to approximate spacecraft and planetary motion. Fully calibrated and geometrically projected images will be released through the Planetary Data System in accordance with Project policies at a later time.
