Space Elevator: October 2010

EuroSE.jpgThe European Spaceward Association will host the 4th International conference on Carbon Nanotechnology and Space Elevator Systems in Luxembourg on December 4th and 5th, 2010.

The conference is split into two 1 day sessions. The first day is dedicated to Space Elevator Systems while the second day is dedicated to Carbon Nanotechnology.

The Space Elevator Systems sessions will focus on the scientific and technical aspects of the space elevator systems as well legal issues, international policy, ongoing research, economics and engineering contests.

The Carbon Nanotechnology sessions will focus the status of ongoing research including carbon nanotube growth technologies relevant to space elevator systems, power transmission, energy conversion and the economics and environmental impacts.

This years Space Elevator Conference which was held at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond, Washington was highlighted by two of the leading pioneers in the field as both Yuri Artsutanov and Jerome Pearson being on hand for the conference. Along with a three day technical program there were two public presentations and the Strong Tether Challenge which no one won.
