After more than 12 years in space, and two years following Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko as they orbited the Sun, Rosetta's historic mission concluded on 30 September 2016 with the spacecraft descending onto the comet in a region hosting several ancient pits.

Rosetta Mission Extended

The adventure continues: ESA today confirmed that its Rosetta mission will be extended until the end of September 2016, at which point the spacecraft will most likely be landed on the surface of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
