Terra Weekly Mission Status Update December 27, 2002 - January 02, 2003

Status Report From: Goddard Space Flight Center
Posted: Thursday, January 2, 2003

The Terra spacecraft is nominal. All instruments are in science mode.

The MOPITT instrument continues to operate as expected after being restored to operation following an anomaly in early December 2002.

The Terra MODIS Direct Broadcast X-band system continues to provide maximum coverage over Australia as a result of an extension of the modified procedure for RFI-related ON/OFF cycling operations over the Canberra DSN station. MODIS Direct Broadcast data are directly supporting Australian summer dry season fire fighting operations through incorporation of MODIS data into the SENTINEL system for hotspot detection instituted by CISRO.

TERRA PLANS:
  • Execute Drag Make-up Maneuver on January 7
  • Execute next series of MODIS calibration yaw maneuvers on January 14
  • Execute lunar roll for MODIS calibration on January 23
