In light of the Center's FY06 budget situation and the accompanying civil service workforce reductions, I have decided to announce an immediate buyout opportunity for the same skills that were included in the buyout that opened in December. While our original plans did not include another buyout opportunity this year, the A-76 decision and the magnitude of the FY06 budget reductions have required us to adjust our workforce planning scenarios. As I discussed in the All Hands Meeting on Monday, this year will be one of "voluntary actions" such as buyouts and reassignments to other NASA Centers. This buyout opportunity is part of the voluntary separation opportunities that employees are strongly encouraged to consider.
The list of skills approved for the buyout is posed on the office of Human Capital Web site at:
This Web site also contains application forms, buyout ground rules, links to annuity estimates, and a timeline of buyout deadlines and meetings.
The window for receipt of buyout applications will open on February 9, 2005 and close on February 17, 2005. Separations with this buyout must occur on or before March 3, 2005. Extension requests will not be accepted with this buyout.
The Office of Human Capital Management (OHCM) will be providing assistance to anyone who is interested in this buyout opportunity. If you are interested or would like additional information, please visit the OHCM Web site referenced above or call your Human Resources Specialist.
