MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. announced today the company has been awarded a contract by Matra Systèmes & Information (MS&I), a subsidiary of EADS Group, France to upgrade three EagleVision mobile Ground Stations for the United States Air Force.

The upgrade will enable the USAF EagleVision units to receive data from the recently launched high resolution 'QuickBird' satellite.

Working in partnership with DigitalGlobe, MDA invested in developing standard QuickBird capability before the satellite launch in October. Consequently, MDA was selected by DigitalGlobe as First Supplier of Certified QuickBird Ground Stations, and can meet the USAF's and MS&I's aggressive upgrade schedule.

MDA will deliver QuickBird initial operational processing capability to the USAF and MS&I by the end of March 2002, with final delivery by the summer.

MDA's upgrade to the Eagle Vision Stations will include end-to-end capabilities for order management, recording, archiving, cataloguing, and processing of data.
