The Coalition for Deep Space Exploration (Coalition) congratulates the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation on today’s rollout and publication of the new Streamlined Launch and Reentry Licensing Regulation-2 (SLR2) and the first group of several related Advisory Circulars.
“The Coalition thanks the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation for the productive dialog it has undertaken with the launch industry and other business stakeholders in crafting SLR2. We also welcome future consultation on the rule and on Advisory Circulars published today, as well as those still in development,” Coalition President and CEO Dr. Mary Lynne Dittmar said. “We recognize the tremendous effort involved in developing and vetting updates to this complex regulation and look forward to our ongoing work with the FAA to assure a robust and safe commercial launch industry.”
In addition to the input provided to the rulemaking process by Coalition member companies, Dr. Dittmar serves as a member of the Safety Working Group on the Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee (COMSTAC), which advises the FAA on behalf of industry engaged in the commercial space industry.
