OmniEarth LLC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Spaceflight Inc. for rideshare launch services related to its planned constellation of up to 18 satellites.
Under the agreement, Spaceflight Inc. will identify launch opportunities and provide associated pre-launch support to OmniEarth. Spaceflight has strong partnerships with prominent launch vehicle providers, such as SpaceX, Orbital Sciences, Roscosmos, and Virgin Galactic, and is well-suited to facilitate launch accommodations for OmniEarth.
“Rideshare and cost effective access to space enables new business models in the satellite industry,” said Curt Blake, president of Spaceflight. “We are excited to help launch the OmniEarth constellation using our global network of launch vehicle partners.”
Spaceflight has launched 47 satellites over a year and a half period and has more than 100 in backlog. Spaceflight’s next launch is scheduled for mid-July 2014 onboard Orbital Sciences’ Cygnus Orb-2 mission.
“The partnership with Spaceflight is a significant milestone in the development of our satellite constellation and brings us one step closer to being able to deliver imagery and analytics that will enhance our subscribers’ ability to detect, analyze and react to environmental change in near real time,” said Lars Dyrud, president and CEO of OmniEarth, of the agreement.
OmniEarth improves our subscribers’ ability to visualize the world around them by enhancing their ability to see, analyze, and react to change in real time. Through a constant stream of geoinformatics, OmniEarth subscribers always have access to imagery and derived information products from any location on Earth – on demand and over time. Our desire to investigate unanswered questions about our changing planet has led us to produce a reliable, constant data stream and enhanced decision-making tools for subscribers in the agriculture, forestry, energy, civil and military markets … and everyone else who wants to better understand Earth. www.omniearth.net
