CLEVELAND - NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland invites the public to spend an evening learning about developments at its Lewis Field campus during a program at the North Olmsted Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library, Thursday, June 20. The two-hour program begins at 7 p.m. in the large main floor meeting room and is open to the public free of charge.
During the program, members of Glenn's Facilities Division will provide an illustrated history of the evolution of the buildings on campus and explain why a portion of the campus is now being considered as a potential historic district. The historic district would be the area within the footprint of the original 1941 campus. They will also provide an update on Glenn's Facility Master Plan. Unveiled in 2007 and regularly updated, the master plan details a multi-year effort to renovate or replace the center's World War II era buildings and facilities to meet NASA's 21st century missions and create a more energy-efficient campus.
Questions and comments relating to the historic district and the master plan will be welcome throughout the program. Those who cannot attend the meeting or choose to provide feedback at a later time, can send comments by mail to Mr. Les Main, NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Rd, (M.S. 21-2) Cleveland, OH 44135 or by email, to email@example.com. All comments must be received by Monday, July 22, 2013.
In support of the preservation of historic properties, federal agencies are required by the National Historic Preservation Act to consult the public on development projects such as those contained in the master plan.
The North Olmsted Branch is located at 27403 Lorain Road. Directions to the branch can be found online at http://www.cuyahogalibrary.org/Branches/North-Olmsted.aspx
