WSBR Virtual Program with Senator John Hickenlooper

Date: Thursday, July 15, 2021

Location: US,

“Ensuring America’s Space Leadership in the Face of Growing Global Competition: Vital Role of the Aerospace Sector”

Please join us Thursday, July 15 at 12noon eastern to hear from our distinguished guest, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper (D-CO), Chairman, Subcommittee on Space and Science of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

The Subcommittee has legislative jurisdiction on space and science-related matters, from civil and commercial space policy, mathematics and standards and measurements, and STEM engagement. The Subcommittee also wields oversight duties over NASA, the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Upon being named Chair, the Senator stated, “As a former geologist, I’m excited to serve as chair of the Subcommittee on Science and Space — you might even say we’re over the moon.”

Senator Hickenlooper also sits on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP); Energy and Natural Resources; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship committees, including serving as Chairman of the Senate HELP Committee Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety.

As Governor of Colorado, Hickenlooper was well known for his advocacy on behalf of the state’s $15 billion aerospace industry, one of the largest in the country.

WSBR is honored to host Senator Hickenlooper, who brings to his position distinguished and varied private and public careers. We hope you’ll join us for this truly special event.

As Colorado’s U.S. Senator, John Hickenlooper brings people together to address our nation’s toughest problems — whether rebuilding a stronger, more resilient economy, lowering the costs of health care and prescription drugs, or combating climate change and protecting our public lands. He started his career in Colorado as a geologist before being laid off and opening the state’s first brewpub. After successfully running a small business, John was elected Mayor of Denver and then Governor of Colorado, where he served for two terms from 2011-2019 and helped the state become the number one economy in the nation.
